Jim Evenson

Jim Evenson was a force at running back during an era when the position demanded both power and production. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound bruiser began his CFL career with the BC Lions in 1968 and played 100 games over seven seasons between BC and the Ottawa Rough Riders. A dominant runner, Evenson recorded 7,060 rushing yards, 1,147 receiving yards, and 43 career touchdowns. He produced four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing campaigns, earning the Eddie James Memorial Trophy in 1971 as the Western Football Conference‘s leading rusher. Evenson helped Ottawa capture the 1973 Grey Cup championship. He was named to two All-CFL and five divisional All-CFL teams. At a time when running backs were expected to carry the load, Jim Evenson established himself as one of the CFL’s most punishing and productive runners.
