Brian Kelly
Class of 1991
Brian Kelly first came to Edmonton in 1978, but a pre-season ankle injury kept him on the sidelines until the following season. The clever wide receiver, affectionately called “Howdy Doody” by his teammates, was a 5’9″ dynamo during his entire career.
In 1979 he was named the Eskimos’ Most Popular Player.
Kelly had a career total 575 pass receptions for 11,169 yards and 97 touchdowns. He scored 586 points and had in excess of 1,000 pass-receiving yards in six of his nine seasons. In his final season, Kelly caught 68 passes for 1,626 yards and 13 touchdowns then completed his career with a Grey Cup victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
