Gerry James

Gerry James, son of hall of fame member Eddie “Dynamite” James, began his professional football career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1952 at the age of 17 and was a starter during the 1953 season.

James rushed 995 times for 5,554 yards and scored a total of 645 points on 63 touchdowns, 143 converts, 40 field goals and 21 singles. James was the league’s scoring leader in 1957 and the Western leader in 1960.

James had more than 1,000 rushing yards in both the 1955 and 1957 seasons.

Gerry James received the Schenley Award for being the Most Outstanding Canadian the first year it was presented.
